I’ll be real with you — I didn’t just want to learn how to clean. I wanted to learn how to clean at the highest standard possible. And when I discovered that CloroxPro offered not one but two ANAB-accredited certifications designed specifically for commercial cleaning professionals, I committed to completing both of them.
This week, I’m proud to announce that I have completed the full CloroxPro HealthyClean dual-certification track — both the Trained Specialist and the Trained Manager programs. This makes LilyCleans one of the few commercial cleaning companies in Denver with dual ANAB-accredited CloroxPro certification at the leadership level.
What Is CloroxPro HealthyClean Certification?
CloroxPro HealthyClean is an online learning platform that offers the first and only industry-wide certificate courses for commercial cleaners accredited by the American National Standards Institute National Accreditation Board (ANAB). ANAB accreditation means the program has been independently verified to meet the highest standards for training quality, comprehension, and delivery — it’s not a participation certificate. You have to earn it.
There are two core certifications in the program:
- CloroxPro HealthyClean Trained Specialist — designed for frontline cleaning professionals, covering how to clean for health using the right products, at the right time, with the right techniques. Includes the science of how germs spread, how to break the chain of infection, and evidence-based cleaning and disinfection protocols.
- CloroxPro HealthyClean Trained Manager — designed for cleaning managers and supervisors. Covers operational planning, team development, inventory management, product and tool selection, and how to build a cleaning operation focused on health outcomes. To be eligible, you must first pass the Trained Specialist course.
Both courses require passing a 100-question final evaluation with a score of 85% or higher. Each one earns you a Certificate of Mastery and a digital badge. The certifications are valid for three years.
What I Learned — The Specialist Track
The Specialist certification changed how I think about the relationship between products, people, and process. Most people assume cleaning is about products — you spray something, you wipe it off, done. The HealthyClean framework teaches something more sophisticated: the outcome depends equally on what you use, how you use it, and who is doing it.
Key takeaways from the Specialist track:
- Contact time matters. Most disinfectants require a specific dwell time on a surface to actually kill pathogens. Wiping immediately after application doesn’t disinfect — it just smears. Our team now follows proper contact time protocols on every surface, every time.
- Cleaning and disinfecting are not the same thing. Cleaning removes dirt and organic matter. Disinfecting kills germs. You have to clean before you can disinfect effectively — skipping that step means your disinfectant is fighting through a layer of soil to do its job.
- High-touch surfaces are the highest risk. Door handles, light switches, shared equipment, elevator buttons — these surfaces carry disproportionate pathogen loads. Our protocols now prioritize high-touch surfaces with increased frequency and verified disinfectants.
What I Learned — The Manager Track
The Manager certification is where the business side of cleaning for health comes together. I came into it with a background in training and instructional design — I’ve built training programs, facilitated learning, and managed operational workflows across multiple industries. The HealthyClean Manager track validated and deepened that foundation in a cleaning-specific context.
Key takeaways from the Manager track:
- Training is an operational system, not an event. You don’t train your team once and move on. Effective cleaning operations build in ongoing competency checks, reinforcement, and accountability structures. LilyCleans is building our training SOPs with this framework in mind.
- Product selection is a strategic decision. Not all EPA-registered disinfectants are equal. Choosing the right product for the right surface — considering contact time, safety profile, and application method — is a management skill, not just a purchasing decision.
- Auditing outcomes is how standards stay high. You can’t manage what you don’t measure. The Manager track taught structured approaches to quality auditing that I am directly applying to LilyCleans’ quality control protocols.
Why This Matters for Our Denver Clients
When you hire LilyCleans, you’re not hiring someone who watched a YouTube video and bought a mop. You’re hiring a company whose leadership has completed the highest-tier, independently accredited training available in the commercial cleaning industry — and passed rigorous evaluations to prove it.
For our property management clients, this means the team cleaning your units and common areas is trained to protocols that actually reduce pathogen transmission — not just make things look clean.
For our post-construction clients, this means we understand surface compatibility, product safety, and proper disinfection sequencing for newly finished spaces.
For our DHA and HUD-funded partners, this means your Section 3 vendor is also a credentialed, professionally trained operation that reflects well on your project compliance profile.
What’s Next
The CloroxPro dual certification joins our growing stack of industry credentials alongside the IJCSA Customer Service Certification. We are continuing through the IJCSA certification track — Green Cleaning, Bloodborne Pathogen, and additional technical certifications are on deck.
Every certification we complete is a promise to our clients: LilyCleans doesn’t cut corners, and we never stop learning.
